Mechanical Film Studies are a series of films that all involve the mechanical subversion of the ‘movie camera’ (super8 and 35mm) or the material being filmed with the camera. Techniques applied to the cameras include slit-scan photography, pinhole photography, stereo imaging, and physical slit scanning.
Loop - Live Performance from Andrew Milne on Vimeo.
Loop began as an experiment between myself (Andrew Milne) and Cameron Johnson in fall of 2008. We decided to figure out what would happen if we fed video to audio and audio back to video creating a loop with no source. This is documentation of a performance we did recently (Summer 09) at Cinematheque in Winnipeg.
