I have been working with Photographic emulsion on canvas on a medium-large scale (36” x 48”) since I arrived in Winnipeg.
I began this process by constructing a walk-in enlarger. It consists of a small lightproof room 7ft x 7ft x 7ft that has a hole in one wall and a large paper safe (canvas safe) box built in to another wall.

I have been interested in Slit-Scan photography since I was a young boy. I first became aware of the process when I saw the photographic work of a contemporary Scottish photographer, Stephen Lawson, at the Edinburgh Art Gallery.
I remember an image of a Red Pickup truck that was stretched and smeared along a street that it had driven down. Not understanding the process at that time I was nonetheless enthralled by it’s impossible but beautiful imagery.
